UnityStream in Tokat — Giving Marginalised Voices a Camera, a Mic and a Platform

From 2 to 4 July 2026, the UnityStream Erasmus+ journey reached Tokat, Türkiye — the third stop on a four-city programme uniting Ireland, Italy, Romania and Türkiye. Youth workers and young people from all four partner countries came together for a module with a purpose at the very heart of AIDI's story: Media Production for Amplifying Marginalised Voices.

Hosted at the Milli Eğitim Akademisi Tokat, the three-day module put cameras, microphones and editing tools into the hands of the people the programme exists to serve. Participants moved from planning a story, to filming and recording it, to producing media that carries the voices of young people and communities who are too often spoken about — and too rarely heard.

For AIDI, Tokat felt like a homecoming of ideas. Since Black History Month Ireland began in a Cork room in 2008, our work has been built on one conviction: when communities control their own narrative, everything changes. The media-production skills gathered in Tokat flow directly back into our youth work in Ireland — into the stories, films and podcasts our young people will make next.

Beyond the workshops, Tokat offered what every UnityStream mobility does: the intercultural evenings, shared meals and easy friendship that turn a training programme into a European family. The module closed with the presentation of certificates to participants.

One stop remains. The UnityStream journey concludes with the youth exchange hosted by AFI in Curtea de Argeș, Romania, from 18–22 November 2026 — where the skills, stories and friendships built across four cities come together.
