Next Stop: Tokat, Türkiye — Amplifying Marginalised Voices Through Media

The stream flows on. From 2 to 4 July 2026, the UnityStream Erasmus+ partnership gathers in Tokat, Türkiye, for the third learning module of the programme — 'Media Production for Amplifying Marginalised Voices'.

After Dublin laid the foundations of European identity and active citizenship, and Rome put inclusive youth work into practice with the young people of the Magliana community, Tokat turns to the tools of storytelling itself. Youth workers and young people from all four partner countries — Ireland, Italy, Romania and Türkiye — will spend three days learning how to plan, produce and publish media that carries the voices of young people who are too often unheard.

The module responds to one of UnityStream's core aims: building digital skills and competencies among young people. Participants will work hands-on with video, audio and social formats — not as consumers of media, but as makers of it, learning how marginalised communities can tell their own stories in their own words.

For AIDI, this module sits at the heart of what we have championed since Black History Month Ireland began in a Cork room in 2008: when communities control their own narrative, everything changes. The skills our team brings home from Tokat will flow directly into our youth work in Ireland — and into the stories you read here.

Tokat is the third of four stops on the UnityStream journey. The programme concludes with a youth exchange workshop hosted by AFI in Curtea de Argeș, Romania, from 18–22 November 2026. Follow the whole journey — and the stories from every city — on our Education page.
