Title: Accessibility Policy
Last updated: 31 May 2026

1. Our commitment to accessibility

The Africa-Irish Development Initiative (AIDI) is committed to making our website and activities accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

We want our online spaces to reflect our values of inclusion, respect and community.

2. What we are aiming for

We aim to:

- Follow recognised accessibility standards, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 where reasonably possible
- Use clear, simple language
- Provide good colour contrast and readable text
- Make our site usable on different devices and screen sizes

3. Measures we take

On this website, we aim to:

- Use headings and structure that support screen readers
- Provide text alternatives for images where appropriate
- Avoid relying only on colour to convey information
- Make links and buttons clear and descriptive

We are working to improve accessibility over time and may use tools and audits to help us identify issues.

4. Limitations and ongoing work

Despite our efforts, some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible. For example:

- Some older content or documents may not meet current accessibility standards
- Third-party content or tools embedded in our site may not be fully under our control

We are committed to reviewing and improving these areas as resources allow.

5. Events and in-person activities

For our events and programmes, we aim to:

- Provide information about accessibility of venues where possible
- Consider accessibility needs when planning activities
- Respond to reasonable requests for adjustments, such as seating, materials in alternative formats, or support with registration

If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us in advance so we can do our best to support you.

6. Feedback and contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and activities.

If you:

- Have difficulty using any part of the site
- Need information in a different format
- Want to suggest an improvement
